HIV

HIV is a virus that spread through specific body fluids attacking the immune system, specifically the CD4 cells, often called T cells of the body. It causes AIDS and interferes with the body’s ability to fight infections. With time, HIV can impair so many cells that the body can’t fight off infections and disease. These specialised cells help the immune system fight off infections.

TB-Tuberculosis

Tuberculosis (TB) is a potentially dangerous infectious bacterial disease that mainly affects your lungs. The bacteria that cause tuberculosis are spread through tiny droplets released into the air via coughs and sneezes, from one person to another.
Most people infected with the bacteria that cause tuberculosis don’t have symptoms. When symptoms do occur, they usually include a cough (sometimes blood-tinged), weight loss, night sweats and fever.
Treatment isn’t always required for those without symptoms. Patients with active symptoms will require a long course of treatment involving multiple antibiotics.

Multidrug-resistant Tuberculosis (MDR)

Multidrug-resistant Tuberculosis is an infectious disease which is caused by mycobacteria, most often involving the lungs. MDR can develop resistance to antimicrobial drugs that cure the disease (at least the two most potent anti-TB drugs: isoniazid and rifampicin). The reason is mismanagement of TB treatment and person-to-person transmission. Inappropriate use of antimicrobial medications, ineffective formulations of drugs, and premature treatment interruption can cause drug resistance leads to MDR in an individual.

Extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB)

Extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR) is a type of tuberculosis that is resistant to some of the most effective anti-TB drugs. Bacteria become active as a result of ruptured immunity, such as HIV, advancing age, or some medical conditions. While MDR-TB is a strain of TB that cannot be treated with the two most powerful first-line treatment anti-TB drugs, XDR-TB is resistant to several of the most effective anti-TB drugs.

Prolonged Unexplained fever

Whereas most persistent fevers are diagnosed, Prolonged Unexplained fevers are worrisome to patients and clinicians. Most fevers that persist beyond this period are caused by common conditions presenting uncommonly. Hundreds of terms may begin FUO (Fever of Unknown Origin). They occur due to an infection in the heart valves, endocarditis, or other diseases such as cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr virus and toxoplasma.

Osteomyelitis which is a bacterial or fungal bone infection and septic arthritis can become chronic if left untreated. They can cause a loss of blood supply to the affected bone, which can lead to the eventual death of the bone tissue.
